Before Zhao Yi and Jiang Yongwei were in the same team, both young people were well-known "Knife Captain" of the fire rescue detachment in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province.
At 2 o’clock on the afternoon of June 23, 2016, Funing County, Yancheng City was hit by a tornado with a level of EF4 and a wind force exceeding 17. A large number of houses and factories collapsed and some roads were blocked. As soon as Jiang Yongwei, then the squadron leader of Funing County Fire Squadron, arrived at the scene with his team members, the headquarters issued an urgent task: there was a large amount of trimethyl aluminum in a factory affected by the disaster, which must be found and destroyed as soon as possible.
This is a tough battle for treading on thin ice to face life and death!
Trimethyl aluminum is a highly flammable chemical, which will cause explosion if it is hit, wetted or heated. At present, the 12,000-square-meter light steel structure factory building has been in ruins under the attack of tornado, and the light steel keel has been twisted into a "twist" shape. When the wind blows, the messy light steel plate "pops" and raindrops are floating in the sky from time to time … … All these unfavorable factors will become the fuse of trimethylaluminum explosion at any time.
Demolition and excavation; Excavation and demolition. Jiang Yongwei and his team members carefully groped their way through the ruins. At this time, a team member heard a slight abnormal noise and hurriedly reminded Jiang Yongwei: "Captain, listen, what is that noise?"
Jiang Yongwei gave a ear, and the voice came from behind a wall in front. His heart hung up at once, and he was worried that it was the skeleton of the support that was shaken when it was demolished. If the roof collapsed again, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Just when he was worried, the steel wall in front of him was lightly removed with a "creak", and a "big tall man" wearing a heat insulation suit appeared behind the wall. Jiang Yongwei shouted at the tall man, "Who let you in? Hurry back! "
The other side replied: "The situation is urgent, and the headquarters ordered us to work together."
Jiang Yongwei tried to dissuade him, but the "big tall man" jumped in front of him and pulled him forward. At this moment, a steel frame weighing hundreds of kilograms slammed into the position where Jiang Yongwei had just stood.
That was close! This pull saved Jiang Yongwei’s life. This "tall man" was Zhao Yi, the mid-team leader of jianhu county Fire Squadron, who came to support.
The two teams will meet in one place, and after more than four hours of continuous fighting, they finally found the trimethyl aluminum storage tank from the ruins.
What should we do next? The headquarters came up with an emergency plan: drainage and burning control of trimethyl aluminum.
The so-called drainage and burning control means that a conduit is led out from the trimethyl aluminum storage tank, and the leading-out speed is controlled by a valve. Every small part of it is led out and put into the emergency protective dike built on site for venting and burning until it is completely burned.
It is no less difficult to control burning by drainage than to defuse a bomb. When the headquarters assigned the task, Zhao Yi competed with Jiang Yongwei. Zhao Yi said: "I am familiar with the knowledge of chemical engineering. I am the first one to explore the road for my teammates!"
Jiang Yongwei said, "I am familiar with the terrain. I will go first!"
Considering the large reserves of trimethyl aluminum, the headquarters decided that Zhao Yi and Jiang Yongwei would each take a "sharp knife squad" to take turns.
For this rescue, Zhao Yi left a photo taken by a colleague at the scene. In the photo, only the back of him and another teammate, in the protective embankment in front of them, spewed flames nearly one person high.

At that time, the weather was sultry, and Zhao Yi and his teammates were wearing airtight heat insulation clothes. They carefully export trimethyl aluminum from the tank body, transfer it to the protective dike steadily, and then ignite it, and at the same time, accurately control the combustion speed.
Before the flame, the high temperature scorched and sweat soaked the whole body, and their operation could not go wrong at all. If you are not careful, trimethyl aluminum will blow up the site … …
Time passed by, and the rescuers on the scene all held their breath. The "sharp knife class" took turns fighting for more than four hours. In the early morning of the next day, this "blockbuster" was finally successfully dismantled.

In February, 2020, Zhao Yi was transferred to the Party branch secretary and political instructor of the special service station of the West Ring Road of Yancheng Fire Rescue Detachment, and was in the same team as Jiang Yongwei, deputy secretary and stationmaster of the Party branch.
The predecessor of the West Ring Road Special Service Station is the Fire Service Team, which was founded in 1960. This is a heroic group with a glorious tradition, and several generations of firefighters have dedicated their youth and blood here. As soon as we met that day, Jiang Yongwei exchanged information with Zhao Yi: the entire secret service station has 44 members, with an average age of 27. "Let’s work together to realize your wish!" Jiang Yongwei patted Zhao Yi’s shoulder and said.
Speaking of wishes, Zhao Yi smiled. It turned out that on November 9, 2018, the national comprehensive fire rescue team was formally established. On this day, he learned through the media that since the founding of New China, 636 fire officers and soldiers have died heroically in the process of saving people’s lives and property.
Looking at the numbers dyed by blood and fire, Zhao Yi, then the squadron leader of Xiangshui County Fire Rescue Squadron, frowned and had a heavy heart. He really wanted to do something. On New Year’s Day in 2019, he wrote a New Year’s wish in the WeChat circle of friends: "Every year, there are a lot of police brothers, and they come back safely!"
Shortly after his wish was written, a serious explosion occurred in a local chemical plant, and Zhao Yi assembled a team to rescue him as quickly as possible. After getting on the bus, he gave the first order: all the players should unload all the metal-related objects in the personal protective equipment. Years of accumulated experience tells Zhao Yi that these objects may trigger unexpected dangers at any time in the battle they are about to enter.
Rushed to the scene, two benzene tanks and a formaldehyde tank, nearly 4500 cubic meters of materials burned at the same time, releasing huge heat; Burning hazardous chemicals liquid and colorful gases spread everywhere; The ground is full of rubble and bare steel bars … …
Zhao Yi urgently ordered: "Everyone follow me and listen to the instructions!"
The scene is in danger, and it is difficult step by step. Zhao Yi keeps calm in times of crisis and takes the lead. He carefully looked at every fire point, which was burning steadily and which still had potential safety hazards, and he remembered them one by one. After accurately judging that there will be no danger of a second explosion for the time being, he decisively ordered: "Save people first!"
Then, Zhao Yi led the team members to rescue the survivors in distress only 50 meters away from the cupping. Just as Zhao Yi rescued the fifth survivor, a young man stumbled up to him and said anxiously, "There are still wounded people there, help them quickly!"
Following the direction of the young man’s fingers, Zhao Yi saw a fire point hundreds of meters away, which was in a downwind position, with flames and smoke billowing. Zhao Yi was about to rush over, when two players stood in front of him and volunteered: "Captain, let’s go!"
Zhao Yi shouted: "Obey orders, I will go!"
Say and push them aside and rush into the fire. At the end of the rescue site, Zhao Yi suddenly felt difficult to breathe, and his dark call was not good. There was not enough oxygen in air respirator! Under normal circumstances, air respirator’s oxygen can be used for more than an hour, and he ran continuously at the scene, which accelerated the consumption of oxygen. It took only ten minutes for oxygen to be in an emergency. However, the fire spot in front of us is large in area and full of smoke, so rushing in to search for people to save lives will encounter accidents at any time.
In an emergency, Zhao Yi did not hesitate. He took a small breath to save oxygen and strode forward to save rescue time. Zhao Yi’s heart was in his throat because of the high temperature in the fire point, extremely low visibility and the danger of a second explosion at any time. One minute, two minutes, three minutes … … As time went by, Zhao Yi’s breathing became more and more difficult. When Zhao Yi could not support it, he was suddenly tripped and looked down. There was a man lying on the ground. Zhao Yi quickly picked him up and rushed out of the fire. When he arrived at a safe place, Zhao Yi changed into air respirator handed by his teammates and hurriedly asked the wounded who were about to transfer out: "Is there anyone else inside?"
"There will be a … … Stay with me. " The wounded man said weakly.
After hearing this, a team member turned and was ready to rush to the fire to save people, but was stopped by Zhao Yi: "I am familiar with it, or I will go."
Say, Zhao Yi just visible fire again, and rescued a wounded. In this rescue, Zhao Yi and his team members rescued 13 people and evacuated more than 50 people.
After 40 minutes, the first reinforcement team arrived. In the face of unfamiliar environment and unclear accident causes, reinforcements could not be started at the moment. According to the latest impression of entering the scene, Zhao Yi urgently drew a valuable map of the accident scene, marked the relevant dangerous points one by one, and gave safety guidance to the reinforcements to ensure the orderly rescue work.
This time, all the players returned safely as he hoped.

Secret service station, what is it? With this question, one morning in early summer, we went into the special service station of the West Ring Road to visit.
"Pay attention to your back, pay attention to coordination." On the training ground of the secret service station, the secret service team members dressed in "Flame Blue" training uniforms lined up in turn and listened to Zhao Yi’s demonstration and command. They threw water, climbed and operated equipment … … Repeatedly practicing various professional skills over and over again.
Such training scenes are staged every day. In peacetime, fire rescue is one of the most dangerous occupations. "Sweat more in peacetime and bleed less in wartime." This sentence is engraved in the heart of every fireman. The teeth marks on the windowsill of the training tower, the footprints on the high-altitude facilities, and the worn-out hose witnessed the hard training of the secret service members.
"Secret service is a sharp knife in the emergency rescue team. As the saying goes: Without Jin Gangzuan, there would be no porcelain work. Secret service members must be proficient in all kinds of martial arts. " Zhao Yi told us while wiping the sweat that in previous rescues, the secret service team members held water guns, climbed tall buildings, mentioned gas tanks, poked hornets’ nests, put out fires, fought floods, rescued and provided disaster relief, and wherever there was danger, there were their figures.
They are everywhere, and they seem to be omnipotent.
After 1995, when Cui Mu joined the army eight years ago, he was heavier. After becoming a secret service member, he made up his mind to challenge his physical limit. A series of training courses, such as sprint, push-ups, single parallel bars and obstacle course, have made him step by step from "reaching the standard" to "excellent". What appears in front of us now is a well-muscled and strong training soldier.
In 2019, Cui Mu participated in the first national "Flame Blue" fire rescue skill competition. During training, Cui Mu accidentally injured his knee. He just put a bandage on his knee, gritted his teeth and insisted on training, and the training intensity did not decrease. In November of that year, he won the fourth place in the 100-meter obstacle rescue exercise in the official competition. "If I hadn’t hurt my knee that time, I would definitely be in the top three." At the training ground, Cui Mu said to us while pulling the horizontal bar to do pull-ups.
"This young man doesn’t talk big, and almost all his goals have been achieved." Zhao Yi told us. In 2020, Cui Mu won the first place in the 100-meter obstacle rescue exercise in the second national "Flame Blue" fire rescue skill competition, and won the second place in the 100-meter obstacle rescue exercise in the international fire rescue technology exchange competition.

In July 2021, there was a rainstorm in Henan. The West Ring Road Special Service Station received orders from its superiors and acted quickly to form the "strongest fighting team" led by Jiang Yongwei. It drove 700 kilometers overnight and went to Henan to fight floods.
Arriving at the flood control site in Xinxiang, Henan Province, all the roads were flooded, and the water in the flooded villagers’ homes was as high as 1.4 meters, and more than 1,000 villagers were trapped in the only remaining highland at the junction of the three villages.
"Look, the rescue team is coming!" The villagers shouted.
Flood rescue is different from fire rescue. Fire rescue is "fast" and flood rescue is more patient. According to the situation on the spot, Jiang Yongwei divided the team members into two ways, one to save people by boat and the other to pump water.
The pump doesn’t stop, the boat doesn’t stop, and people don’t stop. They fought for more than 100 hours continuously, successfully dredging the traffic artery from Xinxiang to Weihui, and opening a life channel for the trapped people.
When searching for the masses, the largest boat can only take six people. After the crowd was full, the rescuers immediately jumped out of the boat and pushed the boat in the water. When it was time to rest in shifts, Mao Hongjie, a post-95 player, remembered that it was time to call his parents in Zhejiang. The mother loves her son dearly and has to make a video call with Mao Hongjie. After connecting to the video, I saw my dark and emaciated son, and my mother was reluctant to part with it, and once again persuaded Mao Hongjie to go home to work.
Mao Hongjie’s father runs a local company, hoping that Mao Hongjie will come back to help him. This time, my mother advised me on the phone. Mao Hongjie said, "Mom, don’t persuade me. I want to take root here all my life."
"Mom, look." Mao Hongjie turned the camera of the mobile phone. In the camera, a rescue boat appeared, with seven or eight people just rescued sitting on it.
After the boat passed by, Mao Hongjie turned back to the camera. Before he could speak, his mother said at the other end, "Son, mom understands you. Do your best and pay attention to safety." Mother hung up the phone and Mao Hongjie smiled with peace of mind.
Liu Zewen, a post-1995 generation, went with the team to yanhe village, Huai ‘an City, Jiangsu Province, for attendance the year before last. At that time, he was in the critical stage of flood control, and the team members stayed on the dam for several days and nights. In order to get rid of drowsiness, a group of young people chatted about their hometowns. When it was Liu Zewen’s turn, he said shyly, "My home is in yanhe village."
"What a coincidence? Take us to your house. " Some teammates joked with Liu Zewen.
Liu Zewen said seriously, "That won’t do, we are on duty."
At noon the next day, Jiang Yongwei, the team leader, took the food to the standby point. Liu Zewen suddenly stopped eating chopsticks.
