From July 3 to 4, many places in Wanzhou District of Chongqing were hit by heavy rain, causing floods and geological disasters. The relevant person in charge of the National Defense General Administration immediately made arrangements, demanding to conscientiously implement the spirit of the important instructions of the Supreme Leader General Secretary on flood control and disaster relief, and guide and help Chongqing to do all the rescue work in accordance with the decision-making arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. On the morning of July 5th, the National Defense General sent a working group led by Wang Daoxi, Vice Minister of Emergency Management Department and Vice Minister of Water Resources, to Wanzhou, Chongqing to guide the flood control and disaster relief work.
On July 3, the National Defense General launched a four-level emergency response to flood control in Chongqing and other provinces. On the afternoon of July 4th, the National Disaster Reduction Committee and the Emergency Management Department launched the national level IV emergency response for disaster relief. On the evening of July 4th, the relevant person in charge of the National Defense General made video connection with the person in charge of the Chongqing Municipal Government, Chongqing Emergency Management Bureau, Chongqing Fire Rescue Corps and Chongqing Wanzhou Fire Rescue Detachment at the National Emergency Command Headquarters, dispatching and guiding flood control and disaster relief work, demanding to strengthen the implementation of responsibility measures, ensure rescue safety, prevent secondary disasters, and do a good job in ensuring the basic livelihood of the affected people. At the same time, pay close attention to the rain conditions in surrounding counties in the next 24 hours and strengthen the preparation for prevention and response.
