CCTV News (China News): At eight o’clock tonight, the closing ceremony of the 29th Beijing Olympic Games kicked off in the countdown of fireworks. In the bright fireworks, joy, passion, farewell and meeting are the themes tonight. China, president, Hu Jintao and other national leaders and IOC President Rogge attended the closing ceremony.
In the literary performance called "Gathering", red shows the passion of sports like fire, and the white light shows the collision between time and speed.
Then members of the Olympic family raised flags and entered the venue. The eye-catching flag bearer of the China delegation is Zhang Ning, the current badminton women’s singles champion and China athlete. Athletes from all over the world once again gathered in the Bird’s Nest Stadium. In order to thank the 1.47 million volunteers for their excellent service, the International Olympic Committee added a ceremony to present flowers to the volunteer representatives at the closing ceremony for the first time.
