The summer solstice is the time of wheat harvest, and the ancients have the custom of celebrating the harvest and offering sacrifices to their ancestors at this time, in order to pray for a good year. In the north, people eat noodles with gravy and Zhajiang Noodles. In the south, people eat many kinds of noodles, such as Yangchun noodles, crossing the bridge, Regan Noodles and so on.
In addition to making noodles, some people also make new wheat into wheat brown, summer solstice cake and so on. Eating wheat brown is one of the customs of the summer solstice in the south of the Yangtze River. People not only eat wheat dumplings, but also give them to each other as gifts. In addition, on the day of the summer solstice, some farmers will roll the noodles into pancakes, bake them, and add vegetables, pods, tofu and bacon, which are called summer solstice cakes, which are eaten after ancestor worship or distributed to relatives and friends.
