April 15, 2018 is the first national security education day after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
National security, at first glance, is a very "high-ranking" thing. Many people’s first reaction may be related to military security and espionage, which seems to have little to do with themselves.
It’s not.
National security refers to the state power, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, people’s well-being, sustainable economic and social development and other major interests of the country, which are relatively free from danger and internal and external threats, and the ability to ensure a continuous state of security. National security is not a vague and distant concept, but a clear, specific and subtle one, which is closely related to everyone.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, especially since the establishment of the Central National Security Committee, the publicity and education work on national security has been continuously promoted, and the people’s awareness of national security has been significantly improved.
"National security" enters the classroom
In the latest edition of Morality and Rule of Law organized by the Ministry of Education, the overall concept of national security has become the most interesting content in the first volume of grade eight. According to reports, the original moral course in the compulsory education stage will be adjusted to "Morality and Rule of Law", which will strengthen the education of Chinese excellent traditional culture, revolutionary tradition, rule of law, national sovereignty awareness and national unity, and set up special topics such as the Chinese dream and the overall national security concept.
Teenagers are the future of the motherland and the hope of the nation. "To educate young people on national security, we must first unify our thinking, strengthen patriotism education, improve our ability to identify different information, guide young people to pay attention to current affairs at home and abroad, and help students establish a correct outlook on life and overall national security." Liu Kai, a junior high school teacher in Fengtai District, told the reporter of Legal Daily that "Morality and Rule of Law" officially entered the classroom after the school started last autumn.
According to Wu Yujun, a professor at Beijing Normal University who has made a detailed analysis of this course, for junior high school students who have lived in a peaceful and stable environment for a long time, they lack practical feelings and necessary understanding of the complex situation facing the security field at home and abroad, and it is difficult to fully realize the grim situation facing national security and lack the sense of urgency. Some people think that maintaining national security is only a national matter, which has little to do with themselves, or is far away from their lives.
"To this end, it is very necessary to guide young people to understand and understand the complex domestic and international security situation facing China, effectively enhance their sense of urgency and enhance their sense of responsibility for safeguarding national security. Based on this consideration, in the process of content design, the textbook has designed two themes: Understanding the Overall National Security Concept and Safeguarding National Security, to guide students to correctly understand and comprehensively grasp the challenges facing China’s security situation, realize the necessity of adhering to the overall national security concept, and consciously shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding national security. " Wu Yujun said.
Liu Kai told reporters that in order to achieve the above goals, the teacher conducted a full exchange and analysis before class, focusing on mobilizing students’ enthusiasm and initiative. By arranging students to consult newspapers, watch news, search information on the Internet and other activities, children can understand and grasp the factors affecting China’s national security and the countermeasures we have taken, and communicate with their classmates in class. "In the process of consulting materials and exchanging ideas, children will have a better understanding of the national security environment, ecological resources and network security situation, thus enhancing their sense of crisis; By understanding the evacuation of overseas Chinese and the escort in the Gulf of Aden, we can stimulate children’s feelings of loving the party and the motherland and enhance their pride in living in the great motherland. By understanding the dragon going to sea, Shenzhou flying, ‘ Belt and Road ’ Initiatives, etc., feel the rapid development of the motherland, feel the unprecedented improvement of China’s international status, and then enhance the determination to contribute to the development of the country. "
Children become parents "teachers"
In April 2017, the reporter of Legal Daily conducted an investigation on citizens’ awareness of national security through online questionnaires and field interviews. In the investigation, the reporter found that some citizens lacked national security knowledge at that time, mainly because there was no channel to obtain national security knowledge.
The national security law clearly stipulates that national security publicity and education activities should be carried out in various forms, and national security education should be incorporated into the national education system and the civil servant education and training system to enhance the national security awareness of the whole people.
Today, one year later, the reporter of Legal Daily paid a return visit to some interviewees.
"In the past, I hardly received national security knowledge publicity education, mainly through new media such as Weibo WeChat. This time, it was a teacher for my children." Hao Tao, the son of a Beijing white-collar worker, is in the second grade of junior high school. He told reporters, "The child told us about the national security knowledge he learned at school, and we benefited a lot from it."
Ms Jia, who lives in Chaoyang District, Beijing, works for an Internet company. A year ago, Ms. Jia expressed this way — — No matter after studying at school or going to work, she has never received education on national security knowledge. Generally speaking, she has seen some posters with similar themes in community streets, but she goes out early and comes back late every day, so she has no time to watch the posters carefully.
At that time, Ms. Jia said that she knew the importance of national security and understood that national security was related to everyone, but she didn’t know more about national security.
"I think the current model is quite good. Let the children get a good national security education at school first, and then go home to share with their parents, which not only helps the parent-child relationship, but also allows busy parents to learn national security knowledge and enhance national security awareness." Ms. Jia told reporters with delight that at present, the school has not only opened national security-related courses separately, but also integrated national security education into various courses.
She told reporters, for example, that geography teaching in schools is linked with current affairs and national security, which makes the content of geography course extension. "For example, when studying maritime rights and interests, the geography teacher asked the children to collect information from various aspects, understand the main significance of protecting China’s maritime rights and interests, and provide protection for the resource needs of the country’s subsequent development. Previously, students always felt that the correlation between national security issues and themselves was not enough, which was relatively vague. Later, when the parents’ meeting was held, the teacher also explained to us. The school said that it is urgent for young people to feel the national security education, and the education sector should pay enough attention to it, which is the most relevant to the geography curriculum. Therefore, the organic integration of national security education and geography curriculum can have a subtle and far-reaching impact on students in teaching. "
There are various publicity and education in colleges and universities.
LAM Raymond is a member of a normal university’s military community. He once helped the school’s military security department to carry out a campaign to publicize national security knowledge. Regarding the national security education in the past, LAM Raymond described it this way: "The school’s military security department contacted our community and said that it wanted to publicize national security and gave us a lot of leaflets. We set up a booth in the central square of the school and distributed leaflets to students after class."
"In the past year, national security awareness publicity and education has also changed its direction and approach, and it is no longer simply distributing leaflets." LAM Raymond told reporters that the school adapts to local conditions, considering that as a university, due to the limitation of professional courses and personal interests, it often does not take the initiative to obtain many laws, regulations and clauses related to national security. "For this reason, the school has specially organized and sorted out some typical cases of related illegal and criminal cases that have been cracked by public security organs, tried by the court and reported by the media, so as to interpret legal knowledge for us and establish an important concept that the authority of the rule of law is inviolable."
LAM Raymond said that his friends studied in different universities, and each school conducted national security education in different ways. "For example, some colleges and universities use National Day, Army Day, China People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression Victory Day and National Security Education Day to carry out related activities. In fact, as long as these activities are meaningful, they can still stimulate our college students’ patriotic enthusiasm and sense of responsibility, and further expand our overall national security education. For example, once we went to see a propaganda film, which showed a sense of ritual expression, which made us feel that the national symbol is the most powerful expression. " (Reporter Zhao Li)
